Organa Brands To Launch THC-A Product

Organa Brands scientists in its R&D labs work on lots of proprietary secrets in order to make sure the O.penVAPE products are unique. Chris McElvany, Chief Technology Officer at O.penVAPE/Organa Labs and Bakked was willing to talk about one new development that the company is close to releasing and that’s THC-A.

McElvany noted that some cannabis trends can come and go quickly among consumers his company doesn’t necessarily jump on all of them. One trend that has been developing lately has been the THC-A crystalline. “It’s sometimes referred to as crystal,” said McElvany. “It’s kind of the buzz word now and the newest form of extract to hit the market. THC-A by itself is non-psychoactive, but when heated up, the THC is activated.” He said it is more targeted to the dabbing market.

“For a while, everyone only wanted to consumer shatter or butter or wax. It comes back around in different forms and it’s really just a delivery method. It may be a fad because by the time it’s activated it’s a less pure product than Delta 9. It’s only 87%, which is less than Delta 9,” said McElvany. He expects the trend to fade away and go to more of a purified Delta 9 THC. However, in the meantime, it does seem to be popular even if the purity really isn’t what consumers think it is.

The Delta (9) tetrahydrocannabinol that McElvany is referring to is the cannabinoid considered to be primarily responsible for marijuana effects like the feeling of being stoned and getting munchies. He also pointed out that O.penVAPE doesn’t jump on every trend, but internally he said the team decided to launch a THC-A product. “Our R&D team is always watching trends and prepared to jump when necessary.”

One trend the company decided to take a pass on was coconut oil. He noted that some smaller players got involved with using coconut oil as part of the vaping process without researching the safety or efficacy of it. “There isn’t a pharmaceutical example of whether anyone should inhale coconut oil and in my opinion, it isn’t safe,” he said.

While O.penVAPE keeps its focus on oils, the Bakked company does produce various products for the dabbing community including the Dabaratus and Bakked distillates.
