Medical cannabis sales in Arkansas hit $24 million in April, which brought the year-to-date total to $94 million purchased by the 94,282 registered patients.
That’s up from $89 million in MMJ sales for the same timeframe in 2022, according to state data from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, 5News reported, and it continues a trend of increasing sales.
“Patients are spending an average of $787,000 a day on medical marijuana purchases (at the state’s 38 dispensaries). However, that total increased to more than $2 million on April 20, 2023,” Scott Hardin, spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, told 5News.
The top dispensaries when it came to April sales? Suite 443 in the town of Hot Springs with 537 pounds of cannabis sold, and Natural Relief Dispensary in the town of Sherwood came in second, with 477 pounds sold.
If the sales trend continues along its current trajectory, Arkansas will easily surpass the $276 million in medical cannabis sold last year, Hardin said.
The Arkansas medical cannabis market launched in 2019.
