Morón's tenure has brought a generation of women entrepreneurs to the fold.

Gia Morón, president of Women Grow, a professional network for women in the cannabis industry, is set to depart from the organization, effective July 31.

Morón is stepping down to devote more energy to her business ventures, according to a release Thursday. The company’s board chairwoman and CEO, Dr. Chanda Macias, will maintain her leadership role.

“Gia Morón was fundamental and instrumental to the growth and success of so many women. Our community will forever be grateful for her many and vast contributions,” Macias said.

Morón became part of Women Grow‘s New York market in 2016, stepping up to the headquarter leadership role two years later. Her tenure has been defined by strategic partnerships and innovative initiatives that have impacted the industry and brought a generation of new women entrepreneurs to the fold.

Under Morón’s leadership, the company secured strategic partnerships with industry-leading cannabis businesses, including Curaleaf, Trulieve, and Etain. Through this consortium of partners, Morón helped a pipeline of young entrepreneurs do business with large publicly traded companies.

Morón also advised on and helped develop several community and educational programs, while also collaborating with the cannabis industry’s leading expos to launch the women-focused branded programming.

All of this was achieved while Morón concurrently ran her other business, GVM Communications.

“This company has been the pathway for so many women, and much like them, Women Grow and its leadership has played a critical role in my entry into this emerging market,” Morón said in a statement.
