The Green Market Report Finance Summit will bring together some of the smartest people in cannabis finance.

Before you pack your flip-flops and head to the beach for the rest of summer, Green Market Report is hosting its 2023 Finance Summit on August 3 in New York City. With the hurdles that many in the cannabis industry have faced over the past two years, it will be valuable to hear from some of the smartest people around.

The program kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with Jason Wild, executive chairman of TerrAscend, which recently uplisted on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Wild will discuss how the company made that decision, what it took to make it happen, and the domino effect it had on mainstream trading houses. We’ll also be opening the floor to audience question, where attendees can ask if it makes sense for other companies to follow in TerrAscend’s footsteps – or any other topic.

Wild has also been very outspoken in his criticisms of the New York State cannabis program. Perhaps he has some solutions to offer up?

One of our sister publications at Crain Communications also will be joining us for the first time. Pensions & Investments’ Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Ablan will host a panel focused on getting institutional investors involved in the cannabis industry. Ablan will be joined by Todd Harrison from CB1 and Green Klub’s Angelo La Roche and Elizabeth Priya Kumar.

Investors in cannabis stocks have been burned by valuations with an extended bear market in the sector. Former Cantor Fitzgerald cannabis analyst Pablo Zuanic, who now heads up Zuanic & Associates, will join equally stellar analyst Frank Colombo from Viridian Capital Advisors to discuss publicly traded stocks.

Now that SAFE Banking looks like it is getting pushed to the back burner again, it is time to hear how companies are making plans and moving ahead without any kind of positive legislation. Sundie Seefried, CEO of Safe Harbor, Feuerstein Kulick’s Samantha Gleit, and David Feldman from Skip Intro Advisors will review how companies are adjusting plans with no new legislation in sight.

Raising capital in cannabis has never been more difficult. Our panelists understand the current state of cannabis financing, emerging trends, and the potential for growth in the market. They will discuss various funding avenues available to cannabis businesses, such as private equity, venture capital, and debt financing. Learn about effective strategies for attracting investment and mitigating risk with Anthony Coniglio of NewLake Capital Partners and Rob Sechrist of Pelorus Equity Group.

Plus, you’ll get a chance to meet the people behind the NYC Cannabis Loan Fund: NYC/EDC. The group is looking for capital partners and a fund administrator. The goal of the Loan Fund is to provide flexible capital at below-market rates to cannabis businesses that are run by social and economic equity applicants who have been awarded licenses to operate in New York City. NYC/EDC will commit up to $8 million of subordinated loan capital at a 0% interest rate.

We’ll end the afternoon honoring some of the leaders of cannabis finance with the 2023 Green Market Report Finance Awards, followed by a cocktail party.

You don’t want to miss this chance to network with this exclusive group of decision-makers.
